Online EMDR Therapy in California
Serving All Of California via Online Therapy
If your body keeps reacting like the past is still happening, you are not broken. EMDR is a trauma therapy approach that can help your brain and nervous system process what happened so triggers, flashbacks, and survival mode responses become less intense over time.

You might be considering EMDR if you notice
Memory and trigger symptoms
Flashbacks, intrusive memories, or body memories
Feeling “pulled back” into the past
Triggers that feel intense or hard to control
Nervous system survival mode symptoms
Feeling unsafe for no reason
Hypervigilance, panic, or being constantly on edge
Shutting down, going numb, dissociating, or feeling disconnected
Your body reacting before your brain can catch up
If any of this resonates, you’re not alone.
EMDR can be helpful if you are experiencing:
What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is designed to help the brain process and integrate memories that still feel stuck. When memories are not fully processed, they can show up as triggers, strong body reactions, panic, shutdown, or repeated “loops” of fear and shame.
EMDR does not erase your memory. Instead, it helps the memory become less distressing so your body no longer reacts as if the danger is happening now. Many people describe this as feeling more present, more in control, and more able to live their life without being hijacked by the past.
How EMDR works (in a simple way)
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (often eye movements or tapping) while you focus on parts of a memory in a paced and supported way. This helps the brain connect the memory with new information so it can be processed differently.
A helpful way to think about it is this: the goal is not to force you to relive trauma. The goal is to help your nervous system update its response so your triggers become less intense and your body can begin to feel safer.
What EMDR can help you move toward
People often seek EMDR because they want relief that talk therapy alone has not fully provided. EMDR can support shifts like:
From being easily triggered → to feeling steadier and more present
From living in survival mode → to feeling safer in your body
From panic or overwhelm → to more calm and confidence
From shutdown or numbness → to having more choice and emotional access
From shame and self-blame → to self-understanding and self-trust
Healing is not about “getting over it.” It’s about your nervous system learning that the danger has passed.

Your Los Angeles, CA Therapist for Trauma Recovery
Hi, I’m Jalyse Stewart, an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist dedicated to helping those heal from the lasting impact of trauma. Whether your trauma shows up as shame, disconnection, difficulty trusting others, or feeling unsafe in your own body you don’t have to face it alone.
For years, I’ve walked alongside survivors who appear strong and capable on the outside, but inside are carrying the weight of memories, fear, and pain that never should have been theirs to hold.
Here’s why I’m passionate about this work: I know how childhood sexual abuse can plant deep wounds making you question your worth, silence your voice, and keep you in survival mode long after the abuse has ended. I believe you deserve more than just surviving. You deserve safety, wholeness, and the freedom to reclaim your life. I’m here to help you get there, at your pace, in a space that honors your story.
